Rant Rant Bitch Rant Rant Mehhhh Rant Rant How do you say “bust a cap” it Italian Rant Rant
It’s 6pm right now, and we still have no hot water, which means it won’t be fixed by tomorrow morning, and I’ll have to take a fourth freezing cold shower. I’m not going put any cute animal pictures this time because it’s really not funny anymore. I’m close to being at the end of my rope with this situation. It’s one thing to use a not so great shower for 4 months, but having to choose between not showering and feeling gross all day and taking a painfully cold shower is for days at a time is not acceptable. I don’t have time to blow dry my hair because I spend so long blow drying my arms and legs and such to warm them up. Last time it didn’t get fixed for at least three days, probably more like four or five, and my host mom is in Germany and not here to take care of it. I’m hoping her boyfriend is taking care of it, otherwise I may leave for Venice to meet Julie and dad on Saturday and not come back or go live in the one hostel in padova (hostels should never be the preferable living situation). I hate to be the arrogant American, but in America, if the hot water goes out in an entire apartment building (a nice apartment building)… we get it fixed! What the eff is this? Is it going to happen again in December when it’s 30 degrees outside (and inside if we continue to not have heat and my room stays a toasty 65 degrees)? Also, I did my laundry today without thinking about the hot water, so I don’t even know if my clothes are clean. They had better be since it takes three days for jeans to air dry. If Italians are so concerned with people thinking Italy is a modern country they should invest in things like hot water and dryers. I’m hoping I get re-enthused about this whole study abroad situation, because right now I’m kind of done. ALSO, I found out today that whatever class registration time NU gives me is the one I get, whether I have access to internet or not and whether it’s a reasonable time here or like 3 in the morning. The study abroad website basically says deal with it, we’re not going to do anything to help you (even though we pay a $2,500 “study abroad administration fee” to them). I feel like it’s not unreasonable or unfair to give people studying abroad a time that’s at least during the day. Since I really only have internet from 9-5 here, which is 2am-10am there, it’s likely I’ll have to wait a day past my registrations time. Hopefully I don’t want to take any popular classes next quarter.
Italy and Northwestern Study Abroad suck. Hopefully I’ll change my mind later, but for now, the end.
